Images that emerged in the pandemic, inkjet prints on birch bark fixed to photo paper. The prints are physically vulnerable.  They are like an aftermath of photography.

I began with birch on birch, image and object. That evolved to compositions of pieces of birch bark, responding to a landscape printed over them. When I learned to manage larger pieces of bark, I shot urban landscapes to fit specific pieces of bark.

The bark was harvested from dead standing trees. Birch bark is at once pliable, tough, delicate, waterproof, ink resistant, and unpredictable. An ideal medium for uncertain times.
