A portfolio of fifty-three composite images from Monhegan Island, Maine, was published as Monhegan Come Again in May 2014. The book is available on Monhegan Island, at bookstores on the coast, and at amazon.com.
The occasion for the portfolio was the 400th anniversary of Captain John Smith landing on Monhegan, which marked the beginning of Monhegan's role as an early fishing station. By the 300th anniversary, in 1914, the island had been discovered by a wave of painters and photographers, who celebrated the occasion in grand style. The vintage photographs in these composite images are from that era of transition, and are courtesy of the Monhegan Museum. Monhegan remains a small year-round community and an important lobster fishery, as well as a destination for thousands of artists, birders, and visitors.
